Another user looking for input between 6.5 component speakers

It takes time to find the right speakers and preping/staging to find the right sound you want/look for as well as the supply for them/amp.I spent alot of money, and time on speakers trying to find what I wanted in order to keep up with my 4-12s in the truck.Seemed like the CDT Brax. worked well for my application,CL 60s and finally a pair of loud tweets.I used the old Autotek Mean Machine 99 for quite a while and the Autotek BTX 7204...later found that the Autotek BTS 7300 I had sitting served justice along with the 7204
In this case everything is pretty much the same. Curve is the same, speakers are the same minus the midbass I had before but that's not where the big differences are at.

I had a bigger power supply last time but I don't need as much this time, not feeding a 5k. I have a much better stage now but he sound is just not the same.

Thanks for the info about the active/raw versus passive. after reading more about what is required to go active on my system, more/different amp and wiring, I decided to just stay with the passive route and sticking with one of these 3 combos..

I think my next step is to go back to the 2 dealers and play with the head unit while listening to the audison and HAT's. See if I can tweak them to get a fuller mid-low end sound.

and same for the Hertz, tweak and see if I can get the high end sounding better. One of the shops has the same head unit as I have, but different amps..

Something I hope you learn sooner than later. A sound board is not a car. We have angles and locations to work with. As well as install preparation. For the tweeters we have axis and off axis. None of this is accounted for with a sound board.

It's easy to tell if a speaker ***** but when you are looking on this level the install will matter most of all.

Anyone telling you different is new to this.

BUT I and most others don't have any other option BUT to initially here speakers in a sound board before putting out the $$$...

That is what I'm given to work with, so I will do the best with it. I agree, the way it sounds there is NOT how it will sound in the car.

but its a start at hearing the different options and going from there..

But your point is noted...

Texas has a pretty big show scene. Go on termpro.com and MECA websites to see what's close to you. Hear the stuff setup right for yourself. See what others have done to get the results. Most of the sound quality crowd will talk to you for hours.
