another speaker suggestion

Well I had the rsd's in my 01 jetta... stock locations for mid and tweet. Doors are deadened with dynamat. Running of a kicker zx350.2 from a pioneer avic d3. They sounded alright, but they weren't that amazing. In fact I would actually say that my friends infinity refrence comps sounded about the same as the rsds. IDK maybe it was the install because everyone seems to be utterly impressed by the rsds but I thought they sounded very average

i had infinity's top of the line set which cost a few times as much and these rsd's blow them out of the water. also a 350.2 isn't enough power for them IMO.

Well they are rated at 60 rms... most people push 120+ to them and my amps birthsheet is 387rms so thats almost 200 per side... ? don't see how that isn't enough power but sound is also subjective and i'm just saying imo i didn't like the sound quality. They sounded like a $100 speaker to me not a $300 one

how did your 350.2 do 200 a side when my 550.2 did 205 per side?

387 was the power at 4ohms bridged or 2 ohms stereo added up. the 350.2 does less than 150 per side at 4 ohms, more like 110 per side or so.

i currently have 200 on each mid and 100 on each tweet. i'd say they should have an amp that does a minimum of 150 per side. the more the better to get them to really sing.

even if you get an amp that does 200 a side, on average if you don't wanna clip the amp one tiny bit you'll only get a 20 watt average out of the 200 watt per side amp if the music you're listening to has 10db dynamics. so thats what the extra headroom is all about.

hmm if it's 350.2 wouldn't that be 175 rms per side at 2 ohms? Don't understand how it could only be 110, but I guess I could be wrong lol.
yea i just looked it up, it's rated at 110 x2 @ 4 ohms, at 14.4 it'll probably do about 120-125 or so at 4 ohms though. but still i think the rsd's need a bit more. i'm running mine active (so no passives to **** up power) and i have 300 per side. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif

Yeah that's a lot lol but if you are running them at 2 ohms it would be more power right?? Either way I was just saying I wasn't particularily pleased with the rsds but if others are then more power to you!

you weren't running them at 2 ohms. they are a 4 ohm set, so they can only be run at 4 ohms.
