Another Silly Newb Gain Setting Question

OK. Installed my new HU. Have run the RCA's to the amp.

I am going to set up the amp with the "proper" gain setting tutorial.

What should I set my various controlling devices at when I do the amp?

Volume goes up to 63.

I have a subwoofer option that allows me to set the subwoofer level -3 through +3.

I have a 16 band graphic eq in the HU.

I have a remote bass knob that goes +/- 8dB connected to the amp directly.

All the equipment is in the sig.

Some gain setting tuts say set it at flat....but i always set mine the way ima listen to it normally.

set it less than 75 volume on head unit turn bass down as he said put it where you would like it to be at but dont have everything maxed especially bass and loud on or bass boost just gives clipped or bad signal

I have a pioneer 9800bt which is similar to yours, I set everything on mine flat as far as the sub goes. On the HU, the equalizer you want everything below 200hz to be zero so if you want to adjust the mids or highs that won't effect the sub frequencies... The sub option you want that to be zero and the amp boost you want that to be 0 too

oh as far as volume goes, i'd set it at 35 at 40 i start to get a lil distortion

turn gain up when you get hu set till you hear distortion then back down a smidge

Hmm should I get some test tones to test for distortion?

I don't think I'll be able to pinpoint that exact volume level that it distorts using music.
