another question

Yes I would and check with DMM. Check your filter settings on your amp. If possible take pics of how sub are wired and amp settings. If I can see what I am working with I could help more. My friend had a couple kicker 10"s in a kicker box and they hit pretty hard.

 
For the most part, everything looks like it's set up fine. And you said that with the digital voltage readout, it stays at 14.4v even when the sub is playing? Something could be wrong with the voltage meter - if you have a DMM or another voltage meter, give that a shot.

 
im going to purchase a volt meter after work, i've never utilized one before, so i unhook the speaker wire from the amp and put the prongs in those outputs? what do i need to look for?
