another question

Your deck only has 2v pre-outputs so your gain should be closer to the 1.2 some where between 2-3 o'clock on gain setting. Can't really tell you exactly because I can't hear it. I am just going of the specs of deck and amp.

That wouldn't have anything to do with the amp not putting out its full power. If anything, lowering it would make matters worse.

 
Ok when i tried to set the gain, even with the gain cranked all the way to 1.2, the voltage output was still only reading 14.2-14.6 on the DMM, with the LED readout on my capacitor maintaining 14.4 (like it wasnt dropping at all, but when i shut my car off it steadily dropped by .1 or .2 volts at a time i dont know if that is normal) What do you think could be going wrong?

 
Alot of volt meters on caps and dist. block can be off by 1v either way. My stinger cap is about 1v off from my DMM and my stinger volt meter in the car. I wouldn't worry about it. Did you get more output from your setup after screwing with the gains?

 
I didn't even plug my subs back in because i knew what the result would be, 14 volts to the subwoofer wouldnt do very much would it? according to the formula i need 48.99 or so. I'm thinking about trying to run it without my cap hooked up

 
I just did everything again, i disconnected everything and hooked it back up, charged the capacitor and i got the same result, with the gain down, it put out like .2 volts and with the gain to the max i got 13.8-14.1 volts and there was no voltage drop what so ever on the digital read out on the capacitor
