Another Q Vs SSD question

If i give both the Q and the SSD the same power, lets say 1K watts. Would one be louder then the other or are the only differences going to be when the Q gets more power?

Im tyring to decide if i should get a Q or SSD for my Autotek, it will push just under 1K watts. Im thinking about just snagging a SSD since the Q would want more, but am curious if they sound the same on the same power, same enclosure.

1000 Watts may be a little much foe the SSD, depending on the options. I have heard SSD on about 600 and a Q on about 1000. The Q is just as lo9ud and sounds better, but that was also with 400 more watts. The SSD is good sub and gets loud, but I would spend the extra for the Q if doing 1000 DAILY

Hmm i guess i figured that the SSD would take the 1000, but maybe it wont.

Single Q with no options. Perfect match for that amp.

the SSD will take a 1kw rated amp just fine.

if it starts smelling...you are clipping it. period. dont let anyone tell you otherwise.

And after you read that I suggest the SSD. Why? Because that's how I feel today. If you want a serious answer try to email Scott at Fi. Maybe speaking to someone who has done numerous tests on both woofers would help. Just maybe, though.

Thanks for the help ***. Ive searched and searched but have yet to find a comparison. I know there are people who have owned both on here. If thats not you, and you dont have a serious opinion or suggestion, then GTFO.

And ive asked this on SSA, no response yet.

im not a complete noob. i do search. I just couldnt find exactly what i was looking for. As far as if the Q and the SSD would sound similar on the same amount of power (1K)

And im too used to a fast paced forum cause SSA fcking moves SLOW!

Well from what I've heard, the SSD with the copper coil option in a sealed box will have a great deal of SQ, better or at least comparable to a Q. As far as SPL, I have not seen any comparison numbers using the woofers in the same setups on the same power in the same vehicle, but numerous people are extremely happy with the output of their SSDs, and others seem to complain that their Q's need long periods to break in or never do.

So if it was my decision I would take the SSD. My next setup is going to be 3 12" SSDs sealed on about 1.2kw a piece, so maybe I am biased.

Ya thats about what ive found. I owned a Q before and was impressed even for the short time i had it, but now im going for budget so if the SSD sounds pretty dam close, or maybe louder since its pushing MORE power then it needs, vs the Q just barely at its RMS, i just dont know.

It seemed like when i fed my alpine 1000 watt to my Q, it still wanted more, and wasnt as loud as it should have been. A lot of people told me i needed more amp, which was probably true, but now ive got even less power so im hesitant to jump into another Q. Which is why im considering the SSD heavily. Ahhh decisions decisions.
