I've had a plethora of different setups, ran SLC265's, then CAL 25's and Dayton mids active, Dayton 175's and Velocity tweets active, and curretly running VC100's and REV mids.

oh and i think that the old RE RE comps are better FYI. ive heard both. smoother and more detailed tweeter with better midrange and about equal midbass and the RE's can extend lower. and the RE's work better off less power (XBL^2 Mid, more effecient)

If they were at the current price of the re re set out they would be a good alternative to the rsd's, but the are likely more expensive and i know they are hard to find (as this was actually one of my other choices before the rsd's).

I'm trying to decide if I should go with the rsd's or jl vr's for an open ended install I'm doing. I have the vr's myself and love them. NEver heard the rsd though.

the bottom line with the rsd's (i installed mine about a month ago) is that they are pretty much unbeatable for the price..maybe they dont compare with a 500 dollar set..but i bet if you bought 5 rsd sets (less than 500) and put them against one 500 dollar set the rsd's would be louder..wouldnt they? ill prob get flamed for that but whatever..i enjoy my comps..the mid bass is pretty impressive and my doors arnt even sealed of deadened yet..the tweet isnt the best..its only 3/4 ..i like 1 inch tweeters.. but yes they are worth every penny.

Its hard to beat the RSd's at the price. Outstanding at there price point...and above.

We carry PG at the shop. I was amazed w/ them when they first came out...good to see most of the forum agrees they are dam nice.

The RSd subs are very nice also.

Yeah there will be no deadening in this install and that's one question I have...Will the jl's need a better install to sound good compared to the rsd's?

you wont get full potential out of any front stage without deadening/sealing but i havent gotten to deadenig my doors yet and they still sound good..i know the midbass will prob double when i seal them..
