Hello all, New guy here been checking out the forums and finally had enough guts to post! I am the proud owner of a 06 Dodge Ram quad cab. My current audio system consists of: Sony gtx500h/u (suuuuuucks), kicker 350.2 amp bridged to a kenwood sub in a Joe Fox sealed enclosure under my back seat. Door speakers are Infinity reference 6x9 (doors) 5.25(rears) powered by a Rockford Fosgate 450.4. This system sounds ok, the sub in my opinion is perfect. The other stuff I just cant seem to get to sound right. I think I have more than enough power with my 4 channel amp.?? I have a strong feeling its my really crappy head unit. It was a gift so I kinda had to use it. Now Im ready to purchase a new one. I really am a Pioneer man always have been since my first two knobber cassette player back in the day. Ive been looking at the 880prs and 980bt. I have been thinking about holding off to see what the 2007 models bring. What do you guys think? Well anyway, thanks for lettin me ramble!

Welcome to the forums!

The source (your HU) may very well be the problem. Pioneer is a good choice. The 880prs seems to be a favorite for people who are currently running active, or plan to in the future. The 980 and the 780 are for people who want something great without the precision and active possibilities offered by the 880prs. The 980 and the 780 are identical, except for the fact that the 980 has bluetooth capabilities. Unless you really need the bluetooth, get the 780.

The new line up doesn't come until April IIRC.

Yea, its pretty sweet. It was the only one that played MP3 in that years line-up. It's time for an upgrade though. I am going to be getting the 780MP unless Pioneer does release something early in the year.

welcome

I would really like to have the bluetooth so I think my best bet will be the 980. I bought that unit for the same reason MP3 man was that sweet no more screwin with cds all the time!

I cant wait to hook up my 200gig external hard drive up to an inverter and plug it into a usb supported head unit. Which is another reason to wait for new pioneers I heard they will have usb

I hope that is true. I forgot about USB innovations. I have a 20 gig hard drive. That's another thing I was looking forward to, then I just forgot about it, lol.
