Another newb needing sub help...

I'm sorry this is so basic, but I'm just starting out and don't know much yet. I got a power acoustik spl2-520 amp for free for working overtime for a guy at work. I'm looking for a sub for $100 or less to match up with it. I was thinking of getting an infinity 10" off of crutchfield. Would these work together? Otherwise, does anyone have any other suggestions? Do 8" subs have much bass? Maybe a better quality 8" would be better than a 10"? I'm COMPLETELY open to suggestions from people who know their stuff since I'm just starting out. I listen to lots of different kinds of music and am going with a sealed box. I'm definately more for sound quality than quantity. Just looking to sound good inside the car even with a couple windows down on the highway. Here's a link to the amp I have. Sorry this is so basic and thanks in advance for any help you can offer. I just don't know anyone who's into car audio who can help me.

Edit: Also, my current set-up just includes a Pioneer DEH-P4800MP HU, infinity 3.5" front door speakers, and four cheapo 5 1/4" speakers in two boxes for the rear (my car didn't have rear speakers so I just stuck those back there when I got it), so it's not like I'm going from much or entering any competitions. I just want good sound with some decent low end since I've got nothing for low end now.

Powerbass Black series/ S series comes to mind first. Cheap, like sealed boxes, decent output and pretty good SQ for being entry level drivers. I've had mine for about a year now, with ~150 watts on it for the better part of that time, and for the last month with about 275 on it, and it's done quite well. Most of the compliments I get are on how good it sounds, even if it's not rattle your fillings loud.

Those powerbass look like they're actually only about $50 or something like that online, so I should be able to get something a little better yet. My budget is $80-100. Closer to $80 is better, but it depends on what's good ofcourse. Any other ideas of something a little better that will work with the SPL2-520 amp I have? Or even if anyone has a site where I can read up on ohms and bridging and all that. Unfortunately I know basically nothing.

For 50 bucks, there's not a lot on the market that will touch the PB's, and even with more money, it's still not a great improvement. Personally, I think the PB's compare to the Kicker Comp's, Infinity Reference's, RF Punch P1's, and Alpine Type S. You could get a pair of PB's with that money. A pair of dual 4 ohm subs would let you wire them at 4 ohm mono to get the most out of that amp you have.

Awesome. I think I'm going to go for that idea. Now to try to not fry anything on my first sub install. :p I wouldn't have found out about those and I'm sure that will be better than a single Infinity. As I said, I don't know anyone into car audio, so this site and people like yourself willing to help are all I have until I learn more. So, thanks again. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/yourock.gif.93d527d504392657a77fa577298070a1.gif
