Here is how to do a recone on a 05 XXX 12".
First off here is what you need:
Motor:
Soft parts:
Basket Glue terminals shim etc:
First screw the basket onto the motor and put a little CA glue on the head to prevent anything from gettin loose. Second put about 15 or so sheets of paper into the gap. Im not sure on the number I used but it was pretty clear to see what it needed. Just until the coil cannot shift in any direction.
Next put a nice bead of glue on the spider landing and the surround landing like so:
Then simply drop in the recone on center, it helped to wiggle the paper a little to get it in right. Make sure to line up the tinsels where the terminals go.
Take out the shim and drop a weight on it.
Then remove the clamps on the surround and throw the gasket on it to clamp it down a bit.
Then solder the tinsels to the terminals
This was actually alot easier than I thought. But defenitely work in a well ventilated area. Because the fumes from the CA glue were enough to get me high.
Here is some vids of it after everything dried and cured.

Plays great, no mechanical noise whatsoever. My desk sure rattled quite a bit tho.
