another help me pick an active setup thread

need a pair of 6.5s and tweets for the mini.

i want:

loud

good sq

good midbass

did i mention loud?

i have a clarion mcd-360 3 way crossover to work with.

the rear of my mini houses 6x9's, which im not going to put anything back there when i upgrade. the H/K system in there now is really nice, but with the windows down, its harder to hear. and when i add like 1000w of bass, its gonna be even harder. so i want something to keep up with that + air from outside. i wanna be able to go 100 with windows and sunroof open, and here nothing but good sounding music lol.

ps- i should be able to get a pretty penny for the whole H/K system over on the mini forums....the amp alone i think is worth like 300 used (like 700 from the factory!)

ive been looking thru PE, which drivers and tweet combo would be the best, loudest, good sounding?

Pay a visit to diymobileaudio and do some researching as there's a LOT of info on DIY set ups over there. Also Zaph has tons of reviews on mids and tweets.

I run the AA poly mid/Vifa tweet combo and am VERY happy with it, but there are tons of options out there. Good luck...

Aren't you running like 8 tweeters or something like that? No offense, your not looking for SQ, you want something loud, just pick some parts and have at it. I'm not sure going active is going to net you much though. I'd just get a premade component set, or lots of them, in your case. They'll sound better than what you'll probably end up tuning, and be much easier to just throw loads of power on.

lol this active setup is for my daily driver (mini cooper)

the 8 mids and 8 tweets is in my explorer with the wall....lol

but i am thinkin about a passive component set....not sure yet. im only doing one, i dont know if ima put 6x9s in the rear either, might throw some decent coaxiles in the back off the HU....

anyone know of any black HUs that you can change the illumination to amber? all the lights in the mini are amber so...im thinkin alpine? i think some do....has to be ipod compatble as well, as thats what im gonna be playing songs with.
