i've got a shitty little RCA speaker/cd player combo right now, but i want something that i can hear all the way down the hall.

as far as speakers, i'm pretty set on the

Dayton ES180-8 7" mids and Dayton DC28FS-8 1 1/8" tweets

i think i'm going to get one of the pre-made crossovers at 3000 Hz for these.

for the substage, i'm pretty open to anything, i think i'm looking for something that can handle 300-400 watts, and will perform nicely in ~1 cubic foot sealed box.

and for power, i have no idea. i know nothing about home audio amps/recievers so i need some help on this. i'm assuming the source will be my laptop because i don't listen to the radio and i will be watching movies etc on my laptop as well. so any help with this would be great.

oh and i will be buying/building over christmas break since i have no time now.

Buy a small integrated amp...if you don't listen to the radio, you don't need a receiver...

I'd stay away from those pre-built Xovers as well. A simple TM arrangement is easy enough to find published designs for.

i'm just trying to save time. i'll be working etc all during the break so i'm trying to put this together in the free time i have. not looking for the best, just better than what i have.

if these crossovers you speak of are easy and quick to put together then i will def check them out

what should i look for in a "small integrated amp"... i want like 80 x 2 @ 8 ohms and like 350 for the sub. should i look at two amps or one?

Two amps...you could use a plate amp for the subwoofer.

I would cross those over much lower than 3k also..... 1.6k to 2.5 k depending on the box....
