Another budget 6.5inch Components thread

I have been looking through many posts on many forums to figure out which components I should get to replace my blown Infinity Reference 6030CS components and of course have read many different opinions.

Yesterday I went to listen to some in person but there was not much of a selection and I had focal polyglass pushed down my throat for hours and I am skeptical of salesman.

-I drive a 2004 Hyundai Tiburon

-I listen to everything from Acid Jazz and classic Rock to Hip Hop and House Music

-I need somewhat reliable and durable comps that can take a bit of abuse

-Sound Quality is important and understand they wont sound like $700.00 Focals

-Doors are being deadened this week

Head Unit: Kenwood Dnx 5140

Subs: 2x 12" Alpine Type Rs in Sealed Box

Amp to power Components: 2-Channel Hifonics Zeus ZXi 4006 Amplifier

2x100 @ 4 ohms

2x200 @ 2 ohms

1x400 @ 4 ohms

I am trying to stay under $150.00. Another concern I had is a person who installed my old components tried to put in the Alpine typeR 6.5inch and said the magnet diameter was to large to roll windows down, "I am not sure if he was truthful or just to lazy to put in a spacer of some sort", so will install myself this time.

I am open for other suggestions as well like the best bang for the buck. I also thought that I could also use my tweeters and crossover from old set and just replace drivers if that is a possibility but didn't want to get over my head.

lanzars are the same thing as cadence only cheaper. PGs sound fking good for the price and anyone here will tell you

I appreciate your guys quick reply's.

Which of these components will have better sound quality and range when combined with the hiphonics amp?

Which sets are the most durable and plug in play where I wont have to baby them?

For some reason I was leaning towards the Polks but if the Lanzars and PGs are cheaper but better quality that seems to be a no brainer.

From the threads that I have read it seemed as though there were a few people that were upgrading from the PG RSDs.

What do you guys think?

After going through some threads and emilimo701 suggestion I think I will be ordering the Alpine Type R Components. I hope these are better than the Infinitys I had in there.

Are there any components which are substantially better for under $140.00?

Will my amp pair with the alpines alright?

most of the distortion you'll hear will be from the amp. nothing you can really do about that with a speaker selection.

the Type-R are a fine speaker for the money. recognize you don't get a warranty at that price.

depth is an issue. you'll need to build a mounting baffle anyway. take the time to install the speaker correctly, and they'll give you the best performance. don't expect to just screw them to the metal door and call it a day.
