Just dont use screws, Last box i built i used an electric finish nailer and it worked great, for those of you who havent heard of them no its not a regular nail gun it has smaller nails that are a little bit bigger than a needle.

No, screws are fine. You need to be careful how you drill them. Makes the box come together faster.

Yeah I would only use glue and screws. not too long either because the length of the screw can cause splits even if the screw isn't that big. (diameter) small screws, great glue, and pre drill and sink before puting screws in and driving the screws in slowly. IMO

I don't countersink actually, my drill has enouth torque that I don't need to.
