My Kenwood DNX8120 is probably the best HU Ive ever owned. granted at the time it was new it was the most expensive kenwood you could get but still, pretty great HU. Ive owned Alpine, Kenwood, Pioneer, and Eclipse........

The story isnt that impressive. Sure, him not knowing what "active" meant when he sells a couple of active HU's (alpine) but other than that if I wasnt on this forum or DIY i probably would of never known that ID was a good brand. Before I joined these forums I thought JL was god of all audio because thats what i was told, so i believed it. when i first started a local shop tried to sell me a nakamichi HU, and because it didnt have cool gadgets and fun graphics i laughed and thought he was trying to sell me junk.....

these "im cooler than a Best Buy installer" threads get old after a while.

So me and a buddy of mine went to best buy so he could pick up new set of head phones. So I go over to the car audio section and brows around. So I notice a 08 civic si in the install bay. I watched the install taking place when the installer comes and asks me if I needed anything. I told him no and said that I liked the car. He said it was his "do not know if it was true" But he invited me into the install bay. So he is doing his thing and were talking about systems and all. When he asks me what am I running in mine. So I tell him ID comps and sub and audison amps and a alpine head unit which I am going active. So he gave me a face like what in the world are you talking about. So i explained it to him and he said that he never heard of such a thing. He than continued to say that the stuff I was getting was junk including the head unit and I needed to go with a kenwood, and he went on and on. Finally honest to god I just laughed in his face and told him he didn't know what he was talking about. And that ID is a great name brand for speakers and all. Than I left. I didn't think I was being cocky I just think he needed to look over some of his info and open his eyes to better stuff that is out there. Now those of you that enjoy saying it can say "cool story bro"

no reason to laugh at them, the guy probably knows some stuff about car audio you might not.

The best is up to the end user not the seller

Ive hooked up pryamid stuff for people and they love i, sounded like *** to me

most people have never heard anything outside of wal-mart/best buy/circuit city... some are just starting to find out names from local shops, but 90% of them carry only the main-stream brands such as kicker, mtx, jl, sony, alpine, ect.

and ill be honest, since joining this forum ive discovered dozens of more brands that are 10x better than anything main stream.. such as AQ, CDT, ID, ED, DD, RD and a few others.. i tell people my sub amp is an audioque 1200d, and they go.. "..wtf //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif...." and i just stand there
