Just about every online review that I have read has stated that it is the lowest playing 12" subwoofer ever auditioned. This made me very curious so I did some research.

It has an extremely high Mms/Mmd of over 400g and a high Qts/Qes. According to the engineers at Adire and TC Sounds, low end sensitivity is dictated by Mmd, Cms, and driver Q. (besides box size/type and environment) The only other 12" subwoofer that I know of that uses the same type of design (specs-wise) is the Phoenix Gold Titanium Elite. Very high Mms, high Qts/Qes. When this driver was released in 2002, many reviewers stated the TiElite was the lowest playing subwoofer they had ever heard.

In only a moderate sized sealed enclosure the Type-X 12" models with a very low anechoic F3 of 31Hz. That's probably the lowest I've ever seen for a sealed 12".

Anyways seems like an interesting and unorthodox design that is optimized for extreme low bass extension in a sealed box.

What do you guys think? I am considering picking up a pair to play around with. I've never auditioned a subwoofer quite like this before.

I looked up the Xenon and it basically models up identically as the Type-X in any given enclosure size. The Xenon is a few dB more efficient which is definitely a plus, but the Type-X looks to be more robust both thermally and mechanically.

I couldn't find the specs on the RSD.

not to mention the xenon subs are some of the ugliest subs out there...some freakin alien spaceship or some sh!t like that...

the X looks 1.9^83747 times better then the xenon IMO
