annoying noise please help!!

hey guys my pop has a 93 volkswagen jetta. it has i dont know if u guys ever heard of it i think its pretty old, a california 640XL. 4ch 600w brigable amp. with some lightning audio b1.65.2 2 way speakers. when the car is started you hear engine noise it kinda gets to you after a while. is there any way i can get rid of this noise Re-wiring or anything?? THANKS FOR YOUR HELP.
