What happened in here?
Ok, first step of the money hungry hobby is done on the new ride, the running of the power cable!
(insert Arsenio Hall wh00t noises here)
One run of 1/0 gauge from the battery to the trunk. I *could* have done 2 gauge instead, based on my current current requirements (pun intended!) but I figured that upgrading to the bigger gauge makes sense in case I ever want to run more power. Lord knows I do not want to have to run this stuff again. So without further adieu, the pictures, with a brief explanation:
The car is a 1991 TBird, the cable was run down a factory channel in the front of the fender, to a factory grommet in the wheel well. The wire was run over the wheel well (inside the splash shield, no wire is exposed) down to another factory grommet which went into the interior near the hood release. From there, it was a normal run under the carpet, utilizing the factory wire channels to the trunk.
Here we go!
A far away shot of the wire going into the body. I ended up pulling that out, and pushing it through the bottom of the wheel well. Made more sense than trying to go the other way, and have to pull all 20 feet of wire, as opposed to the 2 or 3 this way.
Check out my ghetto headlight, car came that way, its definetly on the list for replacement!
A better shot of where the wire went in at:
Yet another better shot (I am going to mount the fuse holder here, behind the headlights. Seems like a good solid surface,no?):
Here's the footwell where it fed in at:
And a further away shot for perspective:
Here's the run down the factory conduits:
And here's where it comes out on the back:
Here's the run around the back seat bottom:
And last but not least, sitting all pretty in the trunk. I have to cut some of this off to use from the battery to my fuse, and from there, to the main run of wire:
Well, there ya have it, the start of everything. My body has got the hurt put on it, makes me NOT look forward to the rca and speaker wire run. I am *thinking* rca's down the center console, and speaker wire up the passenger side conduit. Is there any rule of thumb for how close these 3 sets of stuff can get? I imagine its inevitable that something will cross somewhere...any best way to go about that?
