Well ive mostly been focusing on upgrading my subs for sq purposes... i realized i have been paying very little attention to my speakers. Money really isnt my friend.. i dont have much of it. Ive really wanted to put a nice comp set into my car, but it seems real complicated. (different components, x-overs, amps, wires etc)...

Im wondering your thoughs with just replacing my stock 6x9's with like poineer, alpine or kenwood 6x9's. Is it really worth it to make that upgrade? i dont plan on running them on an amp. is that ok?

I realize im trying to hard to make shortcuts and bastardize my audio system, but i have other priorities that are taking up most of my money (insurence, gas, car payments, etc)

thanks for your help.

i was wrong, i just read that my jeep has 6.5's in the front and rear, if thats what you meant iceteebone.

yea i think im just going for regular speakers. just replacing the stock ones to get a little better sound out of it, nothing too complicated or money consuming at this time.

In my Girlfriend's jeep, I put in CDT CL-6x Coaxial speakers up front and CDT CL-5x Coaxial Speakers in the rear. I powered them with a 4 x 70 rms amp, and it sounds great. BUT, for the price of all that...shit...

I'd recommend, just picking up some RE components from the group buy...power them by a profile CL400 and call it a day...no rear fill. That'll be under $200 shipped, it'd be worht it! peace

Ill look into that. The only object i have is power. My lights dim while im only running 650 watts thru my amps. Im probably upgrading to a 1200 watt + amp soon, so my lights will really be bad. I do plan on upgrading my battery and doing the big three, but i think running my new amp then an amp for my speakers will be excessive.

And if you did decide to buy those, please don't pay $100, http://www.etronics.com/product.asp?stk_code=piotsa1681r&store=&catid=358

But again, I would look into some 2 way coaxials or components.

The first speakers I ever bought for my ***** Am were old Pioneer's. Honestly, they were ****. They weren't outright **** because they were way better than stock. I just found them way too harsh and peaky in the high end. I got them off eBay for 20$, so you can't go wrong.

If you really want a cheap set of good components, we just put together a cheap system in a Land Rover. Using the stock spots, we used JL TR series coaxials and one 12W04.

I was absolutely amazed at the midbass coming out of the 4's. Normally you need to cross 4's over at 160 or higher. These we had crossed at 100hz off deck power, and the moved a lot of air. They were amazingly clean and crisp, and very smoothe.

You can find the TR's very cheap through retailers, or if you wish, on eBay.

Other alternatives you may want to try out should include MB Quart, Focal Access or any other entry level series of the usualy high end brands. I've heard some and came away impressed.

Car audio is so complicated. im just starting to understand subs and amps, and now speakers and components come into play.

when i buy components, do i buy everything seperate, or when i buy components does it come with the x-overs, mids, and tweets.

I know im trying to hard to cut corners, but is there any way i can just run mids and tweets off the stock speakerwire i have now, with no x-overs and amps?

I guess it wouldnt be too bad if i just had to buy 2 mids, 2 tweeters, and maybe the q-logic kick panels. Now if i were to do that, would i just disconnect the speakers in my doors? or do i still use those.

thanks again guys for helping me out, im totally lost when it comes to this
