Amps with >5V inputs??

I have an Eclipse CD5000 that has 3 sets of 8V preouts. I would like to maximize the potential of the HU by having an amp that match up with the 8V output. I believe Eclipse and JL both go up to 8V.

Are there other good amps (both for front stage comps and subs) that take high out put from the pre-outs? I need something between 100-150 RMS for my front stage and 300-400 RMS for the sub.

And as an after thought, will 8V preouts cause any harm to an amp that is rated for 5V or less?

I would think most any major brand amp could handle that kind of HU output nowadays.

I have an old (late 90's) Zed made US Acoustics amp that is listed in the manual as capable of the range from 100mV up to 8V.

The 8V is over-rated you'll be lucky to see a true 4V at the amp and it fluctuates based on the musical content and will waver over the frequency spectrum. Many old school amps can take up to 9V input. HiFonics Series VIII's and the older Orion's.

Should not have any problems just set the amp's gain at minimum and slowly adjust to your liking.
