I Live in Southern California, so sometimes we get days that are 110 degrees. I Havn't been having much luck with my current amplifier.

Anybody have any suggestions for an amp that'll keep performing reliably?

Not looking for any outrageous power, just like 500 watts or so.

(for a subwoofer might i add)

any decent name bran amp should have no problems with venting.

i have ran a cheap amp that would turn off ...but then agian it was a $20 special

Get an ok amp and give it room to breath

where are you lookin to buy ? online? i store?

600 or 1000 watt Alpine PDX series. They are only stable at 2 and 4 ohm though.
When I had a PDX 4.150 & 1.600 stacked together, them bishes got hot in the summer. They never went into thermal protect or anything, just too hot for my liking. So installed two 80mm pc case fans behind them, they only got warm after that.

I had the 4.150 up until yesterday. I ran it active and it barely got warm. When it was installed in my car, it was late July in Chicago. You must have been pounding those amps.

Buy a single large 3" fan and have it blow on the open part of the amp or

Buy 2 computer fans. should run you about $5

Build a small enclosure for the amp 1/4 MDF

have 1 fan blowing in, 1 fan blowing out.

Ran my kicker 400.1 good time with a winter blanket over it in the dead of summer. Never had a problem.

I secound that comment about just get a amp you like. And some fans for it. Radioshake has them 12volt fans. No brianer how to hook them up + - wires.
