Amps putting out low frequencies only to mid range speakers

Hello, I am trying to finish up an installation on my 72' Chevelle here. I have a Pioneer head unit with 1 set of RCA outputs. (6) Kenwood 6.5s. (6) Soundstream 6x9s. (3) Kenwood 12". (1) Soundstream RUB.2500 monoblock. (2) Sounstream RUB4.600.

What I need help with is-- my 2 Soundstream 4 channel amps are only putting out low frequencies to the speakers. I have them running the 6x9s and 2 of the 6.5s. Head unit is running the other 4 6.5s. There is a myraid of adjustments on the side of these amps, I tried every one. It's not that. Still cannot get any highs.

Could my head unit be putting out only low frequencies to these amps? I'm not sure what else to do.

Thank You!

How in the hell do you have all of that running on one set of RCAs? Sheesh.

Chances are that that one set of RCAs is a sub output. Check the settings on the HU and make sure it's not being filtered. Might be labeled "LPF."

Speaking of LPF... your amps probably have filters too, yes? Make sure you have the "HPF" selected if there is a switch.

It would help if you could post a pic of the control side of your amp so we can see how you have them set.

OP - You do not need a new head-unit. You just need to get into the Pioneer's audio setup menu and flip the RCA output mode from "SUB" to "FULL".

For those that asked, OP is running some speakers off the HU speaker leads directly and some off the RCAs.

I'm not saying what he is doing is a good idea, I'm just trying to answer his question about getting highs out of the amps on the RCAs.

Post the model number of the pioneer deck. Their are a couple of the low end pioneer decks that the RCA outputs are low pass only, with no option for full range output.

Thanks so much for the responses. Very much appreciated. Not too long after I posted this up last night, I deduced that the single set of RCA outs must be low frequency only. I went and purchased (at Wal-Mart, where else can you get a head unit at 9pm on Saturday night on a holiday weekend, right?) a Kenwood head unit that has 3 set of RCS outs.

That solved the issue right away. I've set up a handful of aftermarket systems in the past, but nothing with this much power or complexity.

Again, thaks so much.
