Amplifiers To Power A Dual 4 Ohm Sub?

Hey, i got a JBL GTO sub( DUAL 4 ohm). my fren told me i can run a 2 channel(200x2), or a 4channel bridged in mono mode(200x2). Also he said the mono block 2 ohm stable amps is the preferred choice, which i agree is more effective. What i would like to know is the pros and cons of using a 2 channel or a 4 channel bridged. and possibly if it could work, how good of a sound will i get.

Your best option would be to get a monoblock amp. If you used the two channel you would either have to wire each channel seperatly or wire the sub to a 4 ohm load. This isnt a bad thing, you just arent getting the full potential out of your amp. The 4 channel would be similar to the 2 channel in the wiring to each channel. You would wire the 1 and 2 channels to one coil and 3 and 4 to the other. Again, not a bad thing, just not utilizing the full potential of the amp...Dont try and bridge the 4 channel into a mono load...that would be a bad thing.

All in all you will probly find a small efficent mono block amp for less then you can get the two channel for.
