Amplifier Shutoff Problems. Please Help

First, a question about my current amp. I have an Audiobah A2150HCT. If there is no sub connected to it, it powers up just fine, also if the sub connected to it is playing at a very low level, it still stays on. but as soon as I turn it up to any level that would be OK to listen to, the warning light on the amp turns on, and shuts off for a couple seconds, then the blue light comes back on for a split second before the process repeats itself over and over. I have heard that this kind of thing may be caused by the amp recognizing a messed up voice coil, I was wondering if that could be the case because it is quite likely that the voice coil on the Audiobahn AW1208T could be bad (Dual 2 Ohm VC). On the other hand, I hooked it up to a different sub, and it did the same thing, could it be something with the speaker connections to the amp? Thanks for any insight.

Are you wiring the voicecoils to a 1 ohm load that you amp cannot handle? If so wire them in series to get a 4 ohm load and see what happens. If you have tried this already then I apologize. Also, do you have a good ground connection and thick wire...also is the power wire of decent size.

Thanks for the replies, but the amp is one ohm stable, and it does the same thing when the gain and bass boost are all the way down. I have 4 gauge power wire which is the biggest that will fit into the amp, and 8 gauge ground wire. I ran it like that for about 4 months and have just started having problems

It sound's like your amp isn't grounded well or is not getting in the power that it needs. That amps is a 1200w stable amp i would recommend no less than 2 guage wire. Yes it only accepts 4 guage i know this but run 2 guage until about 1 or two feet before the amp and use a splitter to connect the 4 guage to your amp. Also 8 guage ground will not work which is probably the main problem... use 4 guage or the maximum allowed which i think is 4ga. Running it like that may have also damaged it due to a ground that is not large enough.

also if your still haveing problems check out KBaudio.com to get it fixed pretty cheap //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
