Amplifier + Receiver Shutting down

My receiver shuts down fro time to time, however my amp does not. Then other times my amplifier will shut off, along with my receiver. What could be causing this. I currently use 8 guage wire and have given considerable thought of installing 4 gauge. Would this change in wiring make a difference?

We totally need WAY more info.

What equipment are you using? Where is the gain/bass boost/etc set? How is everything wired? Etc etc.

Well, from what You provided, You may have a short in the radios wiring harness; far too low of a supply voltage; etc.......etc..........................................[/]

I found out what was rong with the amp. Nothing. It was the speaker terminal it was a damaged.
