Amplifier question...

I have an

- infinity perfect VQ 10" sub

and a

- Sony xplod 10" (i kno they suk)

the sony has a peak of 1200 and 330RMS

the infinity has a peak of 1600 and 400RMS

my question is....can i put 500- 600watts on any of those two subs and still maintain good sound?

and..Does the RMS rating mean that, at that much power they sound best?

( im going to use the xpold till it blows up n then hook up my infinity)

What a nice amp i can get, im running one sub in a 10" sealed enclosure, i need a cheap and decent amp.

RMS is the rating given that is optimal for performance, it is the number that they will take all day long. Peak rating is an imaginary number used to attract buyers or don't know any better.

What is your budget for an amp? There are thousands of choices...

oh ok i see...but say i use the xplod...i can put like 400W on it and its would still be fine right?

i ran 2 12 mtxs 4500 there like 250 rms and feed them about 1000 rms for a year before they blown clean power tho

my range is about 100-200. im lookin for stuff on ebay n such too....so take those into consideration.

but i would go a little higher if i found a good deal retail price.

What is the voice coil configuration on the Infinity? They sell them with both single 4ohm voice coil and dual 4ohm voice coil. Which version you have is going to determine which amplifiers will best suit you (since the Infinity is actually a decent subwoofer, focus on finding an amplifier that best suits the Infinity and forget about the Sony altogether)
