Amplifier Gain Issue

OK, so I have my new amp and got everything installed. Now I have a new problem. When I fire everything up, my sub is playing with the radio volume at 0 and amp gain all the way over at 8V, but it stops when I push the button to turn the radio off and the rhythm changes when I change songs. When I use my Ipod, the volume changes with my Ipod volume and doesn't have this problem.

I didn't have enough time before the Sun went down to troubleshoot this anymore, but would this happen if I had the gains on my LOC too high? They are adjustable and I think they are all the way up.

yes and no, depends on the ground source. i would get rid of the loc and get an aftermarket cd player with sub outs. about 4.0v or higher.

2nd thing check the rca's, switch them with another pair to see if ground is good. and make sure thier laying across any live wires or transmission/ flywheel ect...

3rd check the ground to the amp itself

if all is still functioning the same after doing this then the ipod or ipod jack may sending bad signal

Well, I can't get an aftermarket HU for my car yet. I don't have the money to redo the components I wanted to do and my car has a factory Amp that is turned on with a CANBUS system and there isn't a harness for it yet. Once there is, I will be putting in a Touch-Nav, but until then, this is my temporary fix. I ran the wires on the oposite side as all power wires and the amp ground is fine, so those aren't the issue.

Why would you suggest the IPOD jack is bad when it is doing exactly what is supposed to happen, i.e. volume changes sub output and it doesn't play at 0 volume?

i had the same problem before and it was a bad ground for me...

Well, my amp ground is good for sure, but I don't know about the LOC ground. I'll redo that one and see what happens.
