amping highs hurt hearing?

I want to amp my mids/tweets, but will 60-100 watts rms hurt my hearing? I know that higher notes cause hearing damage much easier than lower notes. I have never heard amped door speakers, but I honestly think my HU is doing a pretty decent job. Is there maybe a way that I can send most of the amp power to the mids and only a little to the tweets?

a gross difference in power output between your mids and highs would make your overall response uneven, with the highs sounding dull due to the reduced output. I imagine you could power both mid and tweeter do something similar with a shelving type tone control on your headunit (typical treble control).

So if I just boosted treble to 7 out of 7 and left bass at around 3 or 4, it could sound decent? Using my HU to give the tweets all 18 watts and the mids a solid 60 watts. Also is going active a good idea... I really don't know much about it.

FYI... your hearing is most sensitive around 1khz... that's midrange territory...

If it's too loud.. turn it down, dumbass... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif
