amp wont turn on

i just hooked up two new kicker comp VR15's to a kenwood KAC-9103D 1800 watt amp and i turned it on and it worked for the first 5 minutes and the amp shut off and never turned back on...i checked the battery and all the connections and they were all fine anybody have any suggestions?

a) Did you get the Dual 2 Ohm CompVRs or the Dual 4 Ohm versions?

b) How are they wired to the amp?

i got the 4 ohm but i dropeed them both down to 2 ohms and i bridged them on my amp... the light on the amp will turn on as soon as i turn the car on then it turns off right after

ya shouldn't have done that, it drew to much power and then fried, didnt that amp say no bridged load below 2 ohms?

So you have all four sub positives going to the positive output on the amp and likewise for the negatives?

What you've done is wire the subs to 1 Ohm if so.

Even though the 9103D claims 1 Ohm load stability there have been far too many complaints about the exact behavior you're describing when the amp is shown resistance that low. I call BS. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

You'll need to rewire them to a nominal 4 Ohm load and I'll wager your problem goes away...

Since the 9103D is a monoblock that alleges 1 Ohm load stability, no it didn't.
