I just got a brand new JL 2/300 amp today and i went to hook it up with my germaniums but i cant get the amp to turn on. I have a remote wire on the back of my dvd player straight to my amp, then a 4gauge cable from my distro block to the amp, then its grounded to my ground block. Ive tried everything to my knowledge to get it to turn on but i cant figure it out. Also i had all the wires from the crossovers wired to the amp then when i disconnected those wires i heard some noise from my speakers. Im wondering if any of you know something i could try?

get a digital multimeter check the ground.... get a 12v wire tester.. check to see if your getting power to the amp (check it down by the amp)... rewire the remote... your running 0ga to ur distro block i'm assuming aswell? check all your fuses with the 12v wire tester aswell...

I was getting 3.7 v from the remote wire by the amp. Im not sure if im even using this **** thing right but im pretty sure i am. Could 3.7v on the remote be the problem?

yeah i was just searching and read it needs to be at least 12V. So whats my problem? Its hooked up directly from my HU remote to the remote on my amp. Why is it so low?

Im pretty sure its not pinched anywhere. I have to go to work in 20 mins so i dont have enough time to take my dvd player out right now to check the volts on the HU remote but i will as soon as i get home from work. Please keep posting ideas guys i appreciate it.

ok, i checked the voltage directly at my HU. Its a kenwood ddx6019. There is not one wire on the **** thing getting it least 12V. Most were around 3.75V but the highest i found was 8.9V (somewhere around there). Even the Specified remote wire for the HU is only 3.75V. What do i do know?

Its a $180 multimeter so i dont think thats the problem. I dont know but its pissing me off. Could it be the harness i have? That shouldnt matter right?

if you have a remote wire lead then you must turn the Auto Sensing feature on the amp OFF. I had that problem because it was ON and i had a remote wire.

if you cannot get it to work from your hu.. you can run like an 18ga. hot wire from a battery source.. you'd want to put it on a toggle switch because it wouldn't go on and off otherwise.. and no one in this forum would recommend doing that.. its just a last resort kind of deal.....

I cant find anything in the manual about an auto sensing feature, and i dont really want to run a wire from the battery i would rather try to figure out why im not getting the power to the remote

The highest voltage wire is the antenna wire which i dont use and that is 9.1 volts. I even spliced open the constant 12V+ red ignition wire and that was getting about 10V. Somethings wrong here. On my harness theres 4 different connectors you can use, but im only using 2 of them. On the ones im not using theres still a good 4.7V going to them even though they arent bring used. Could that be draining my extra power causing low volts at the remote?
