so i was about to order my hifonics bxi 2008d but then i noticed that it does not have any fuses on it. so do i need to run a fuse on the power wire close to the amp along with the one close to the battery? i have not seen many amps with out fuses. now im hesitant to buy. what you guys think.

You don't need another fuse near the amp if the fuse by the battery is the right size. Same current has to flow through the wire, doesn't matter where the fuse is. The reason that you put one near the battery is to protect the wire, but there is no reason that you can't go with a smaller fuse than the max for the wire and let it protect the amp, too.
