AMP wiring

On my amp there are 3 places for different wiring. One is 12+.One is REM and one is Ground. MY question is where do i hook up what turns my amp on? i want my amp to trun on when i turn my radio on , NOT when i start my car.What wirers should i put where? Also, I have the RCA cable but what do i hook up to it besides the amp? thanks for the help . please reply i need all the help i can get.

Your power wire from your battery goes into the '12v' location.

Your ground wire from your grounding point goes into the 'ground' location.

Your remote wire (usually blue) from your head unit goes to the 'rem' location.

Your RCA goes from the correct pre-out (if you have multi pre-outs) on your deck to your amp.

Mono, 2 ch, 4 ch ?

holy shit, so i have to run that little blue wire from my radio(i dont have a cd player. is that going to be a problem?)all the way to my trunk? Where do i find the pre- outs? i dont know what i have channle wise. i have two 12 inch subs,one amp.There are 4 places in my subs box for speacher wire, does that mean 4 channle?

No no, on the amp it should say mono, 2channel, 4 channel, whatever.

My guess is that it's either a 2ch or 4ch.

And the little blue wire needs to be run from your head unit to your amp.

So you are running a stock head unit or what ?

yea its the radio that came with the car. It says that the amp is mono. WHats does that mean? where do i find the pre-out, is it near the radio? When i start my car does the amp come on if its hooked up to the car's 12v?!?

With a stock radio you probably won't have anyplace to plug the RCA cables into. You'll need to get something called a line level converter (LLC) and tap into the rear speaker wires in the car and run short RCA cables from there to the amp.

Yes, the little blue wire is required too.

"That little blue wire" can be wired to any 12v source that is only on when the car is "turned on" mine is tapped into my ignition wire (because they messed up on my HU install) otherwise you can do it the ghetto way and just wrap it around one of the ends of your radio fuse (this can be dangerous though)

Ohh ya and mono means just that, it only has one channel of out put (there isn't like a left/right channel). Since it is mono i assume you're hooking up a sub?

I have a subwoofer, and a dual channel amp, but with a stock head unit. I can wire the remote line to the powersource of the head unit, but would I need a LLC if my stock system has a subwoofer? In other words, would I be able to just get an adapter RCA plug from the wiring of the stock subwoofer and wire that to the input of the amplifier? Or would I still need to buy a LLC?

If I do need a LLC, would I connect that to the stock subwoofer input? I'm just confused because a LLC converts "High-Level" speaker output to RCA line level. What does that mean? Are the stock subwoofer wires considered "high level?"

High level is a signal that has been amplified, low level being preamp (such as RCA). With some cars the sub has it's own amp and has preamp inputs where you may be able to get an adapter to put out RCA connections. I would use the LLC or LOC (line output converter) off the factory sub, however you need to disconnect the sub.

Alright, so if I get a line level converter, I would hook that up to the wires running to the stock subwoofer? All of the line level converters I've seen require a left and right channel, and that goes out to 2 rca plugs. Since the subwoofer only has a positive and negative wire, how would I hook that up to the LLC?
