Ok, here's the deal.

All values are RMS:

My amp can do 380Wx1(mono) @ 4ohms or 190Wx2(stereo) @ 2 ohms.

I have two 4 ohm DVC subwoofers.

Which method would be louder. I currently have them hooked up at 2 ohms to my amp. If you're wondering how, it's a series-parallel connection.

What do you all think?

Or, would they both sound the same??

Sorry for the lack of info...

Amp: Sony Xplod 760w Max- RMS: 150wX2@4ohms, 190wx2@2ohms, 380x1(mono)@4ohms.

Subs: 2X JL Audio 10" W3D4 (4 ohms, DVC)

I just thought that the difference in resistance would make a change the sound between the 190x2@2ohms and the 380wX1@4ohms.

the amp is doing the same thing at 190x2 @2 ohms as it is 380x1 @ 4 ohms.

190 x 2 @ 2 ohms.. each sub is hooked up to a channel, wired in paralell. Each sub getting 190 watts.

380 x 1 @ 4 ohms.. both subs are wired series/parallel to eachother, with one subs + and - terminal wire going to the amp. Both subs getting 190 watts.

They will sound the same either way wired. Your pulling the same amount of wattage from each situation. The option is only availible because u can either run 2 speakers off it or a subwoofer setup. flip a coin..

Yeah, I really would like a bigger amp. Money is the problem though, it always has to go to something else. The ideal amp I'd like would be the JL Audio 500/1. 250W RMS is optimal for my subs, I'm only doing 190W RMS right now. Do you guys know of any other amps that are high quality but run a little on the cheaper side? 500W RMS would be preferable.

Yes the jbl bp600.1 is 1ohm stable, but I wouldnt put it in the HIGH QUALITY class. Not a bad amp at all for the money. I have the big brother jbl bp1200.1 and love it. Also that 190rms if wired what im thinking is being split so each coil (2 per sub) is seeing roughly 95rms....I know those subs can take a good 400rms each (200 per coil) You just need a good amp nothing that will send a shitty signal....clipping bad...stay away from legacy, american pro, rockwood, pyramid....

Lanzar make some solid amps for the price. might wanna look into the vibe series or the rack mounts.

I would run it mono. Either way there getting the same amount of watts. But the amp will run cooler at 4 ohms than 2.

Profile and us acoustik amps are very cheap for the wattage but im not really sure about there reliability.

I agree with every one above. OFC is much better. Copper is a much better conductor than aluminum.

For clarity, why not example 2 ? Example 2 is 2 ohm...my speakers are 4 ohm and amp uses less RMS wattage with the bridged 4 ohm full range...
