Amp Vs. Amp

New guy has another new question..first off much repect to this guy JMAC..he has given me some great invaluable advice.

here goes

Is it True that some manufacturers make Great Amps but for only certain applications..what I mean is..."FOSGATE MAKES GREAT AMPS FOR POWERING SUB'S BUT NOT MY MB QUARTS"..Or "My Phoenix gold makes the Mids and tweeters sound great but they don't make good Sub amps" (Just examples)

basically should I pick a seperate amp manufacturer for my component speakers and another for my bass...I was told this once by some guy at "Al & Ed's" and it stuck in my head (he said I should never use Fosgate for my component speakers?)..I mean I am sure I can't go wrong with an all Fosgate or a Hifonics or a MTX set up etc..etc.. powering my whole system..but would you guys agree there are certian companies for certain speakers.for example.I also have heard JL is only good for Subs...yet they are the best for subs??..blah..blah..blah..do you guys agree or is a good amp simply "A GOOD AMP"????

If so..who's the best for Mids and tweets... or would that just open up a whole "No win" debate..I really just want to know if this "theory" is accurate.

just commenting on the jl thing, i know i will get ***** for saying this, but jl is pretty much an all around awesome brand. their prices are a bit high, but i have never had a problem with any of their amps, components, or subs, and i have used a lot of jl's stuff.

a good reliable amp will power a speaker or woofer the same considering a subwoofer is a speaker. Some amps are better than others its terms of durability and being able to produce clean watts and quality of the amp And features the amp has.

Make sure you know what amp your buying for what speaker though. Don't buy a D-Class amp for your front end you'll have something that can't play that high and be screwed. D-class amps are mainly used for powering subs

My fosgate 300X does a real good job on my mids and highs. I know there are better choices but that is what that amp was made for and it works well. And it also matched the sub amp I had @ the time.

From my "limited experience"...I agree. A good Amp is a Good amp regardless of what speaker it is powering. One of the major reasons I am on this forum is because although some of you guys have "honest" biases towards certain amps and manufacturers

....You are not selling them, I find this to be a big problem when getting advice. I think one thing that is obvuously true is that..certain Amps, Speakers and head units appeal to certain people and not others for valid reasons. I have heard great Systems that other guys think ****??? that is the whole sweet thing behind a great system, we want to get great and loud systems...yet honestly we want to impress others..and one guys deep 15" driven bass dream is another guys 4 8" sub hitting tight????

Anyways I am glad you guys give non-biased advice...I mean I don't want to go with a Fosgate class D for woofers and an Alpine for the seperates???? it's okay but looks like a ghetto system in my opinion(like I just put together a system with what I found in the paper or something).. I want to power my speakers with the same AMP Manufacturer and have the system look "uniform"... Like I said..I can pick apart my ideas or this stereo system forever..but either way I can't go wrong with quality products and a well thought out diagram.I can't ever see myself saying "**** I wish I got the JL instead of Fosgate..etc..etc...

Of course I can always improve my system..but it will never "****". when I pop in that first CD.....I know I will LOVE IT..regardless of all the debating "Who or What is Best"!!
