Its not their fault if someone cant understand the meaning of max power.

And it is not my fault you do not know how to properly back-up your arguement. I stand by my question asking for proof that they put out rated power. I'm not trying to prove you wrong, I don't know why you are getting so defensive. Also, on the box where they state the MAX power, do they state RMS?

I started off my posting in this thread by clearly stating that the info which I was presenting was from sources which I had read. So your argueing with me as if I was giving a fact rather than opinion, is absurd.

And another absurd point is that you ask if I am saying that the products are trashy simply because they rate thier amplifiers at MAX. Which ones? PG used to be one of the top-notch leaders, and then the Tantrums were still absolute machines. After they dc'd the Tantrum is when I started hearing bad things about them.

The xenons is where pg went wrong.. They had several bad xenons out, and the problem was fixed, but it made alot of people hate them. I got the good batch, and have had no problems for more than a year now.. The xenons are discontinued, and they have several new lines out that will get them on their feet im sure..

Sorry if i came off 2 deffensive.. Anyways I have personally seen them bench tested to know they put out 1kw. They wont put out much more, but they will put out no less than 1kw @ 2 ohms.. It was pretty dumb to put max listings on the box, and I dont know what they were tying to accomplish with that, but its still one hell of an amp for its price. It could be worse though.. Atleast they didnt make up fake rms listings like the base model hifonics amps...

just to get peeps thoughts about this, me and my friend have been battling over what amp would be better to have the Pheonix Gold octane 15.0:1 (1000wrms@2ohms) or the MTX TA5601 (600wrms@2ohms) this is kindda if you had to choose whats better??

Neither. But if I had to choose probably the PG.

Face it the industry has changed, nothigns built liek it used to be... as for the idea of octane verus mtx I dont think it will really matters. Both are entry maybe barley mid line amps. Personally Ive seen more MTX shyt the bed, so id say go ocatane, and the octanes put out their rated RMS power.

As for the xenons, that is when PG started to get the harsh critism. The mix between moving production over seas and the first batch from Sams Mart being bad (which Im almost positive was faulty parts provided by Sams not PGs design). Since that first batch the Xenon they actully are soem of the most reliable amps produced by PG. I forget the exact faluire rate of them, but it was quite a bit lower then the TI amps. And in defense on the new xenon amps design, they are actually layed out better then the legendary MS amps. I have some tech explantion of it that I have to dig up, but it came from a engineer...ill try ot find it.

lol the Tantrums were not PGs top notch amps...hell of middle line amp tho, better then most comapnies higher end amps.

you havent backed ur up either, all you stated was the octane was trash because they list max watts which EVERY COMPANY practically does with their entry level line. Have you ever tested a Octane amp? Prob not, but you will prob lie and say you have.

My friend ran one @ 1 ohm the entire time he had it. I've even read a couple of posts that the owners were runing them below 1 ohm in comps.

Re-read what I said, and I think you will find that you read wrong the first time. I never mentioned anything about the Tantrum being PG's flagship, did I?

How is it that the person I was talking to came to understand what I was saying; yet you felt it necessary to stand up for something that had already been handled?

When did I ever try to give solid proof that the amplifier was bad?

More important, when did I ever mention that I had proof, or that I knew for sure? If you read, I always left room for uncertainty and that is where learning to properly decipher what has been written comes into play. I always made sure that my posts were not factual, but rather opinionated based on what I have read and what others have experienced.

It was to be understood that this was opinion, and I feel that if you have skills enough to complete high school literature, then you should have skills enough to have comprehended that.

And no, I have not tested an Octane amp, I have no desire to. Why would I want to

both amps can be good depending on what you want out of them. if your going for max spl then im gonna say neither. but if your not trying to break a world record then go for the pg. mtx isnt that bad either. its all in what you want.octane will throw more power though.
