just to get peeps thoughts about this, me and my friend have been battling over what amp would be better to have the Pheonix Gold octane 15.0:1 (1000wrms@2ohms) or the MTX TA5601 (600wrms@2ohms) this is kindda if you had to choose whats better??

I used to love both companies, now the Octane amps are trashy (from literature I have literized) and MTX just is getting cheaper by the minute. I would chose neither.

The octane is anything but trashy. It puts out its rated specs, and does it efficiently. 1kw @ 2 ohms

So you're telling me even though they rate them at MAX power, it puts out that power at RMS? Hmm, seems a little odd, people stopped underrating thier amps that much a long time ago.

If I had to chose, I would go with whatever was cheapest. The MTX is CEA compliant, so you know you will be getting the rated power, but I prefer ease and usefulness. The Octane is built for a substage (class-d, single channel), while the MTX is built otherwise, I think..

Also, for personal curiosity, can you provide refrences and details on the bench tests that proved it provided it's rated power?

If you look on any of the octanes boxes you will notice that it will say 1500max. Now if it said 1500rms, then they would be lieing. Its perfectly fine to say it puts out 1.5k max. The amp still does its rated power, which is 1kw rms 1.5k max... So your telling me because they listed the max power on the box that its crap? It even says that its max on the box... Its not their fault if someone cant understand the meaning of max power. This amp is very reliable, and would do just as good or better than most entry-mid level companies amps.
