amp trouble

I really need help long story short. I had a 12in h2 orion at 4 ohms running into a 1000bd rockford with a 2 ohm load. After 2 weeks of solid play my amp was going into protection mode after 2 minutes of play . I returnd the amp and got a 1001bd rockfosgate new from warrenty and just today it went into the same thing , proctection mode after a few heavy beats . I had the amp installd by a pro who adjusted the gains perfectly and was working no prob on saturday and on monday my problem is back. I called the shop where I got the amp and was told to bring in my car so he can look at the alt and wiring just to see whats going on since he said that the amp cant be the problembut eliminate everything else before hand . If anyone has any idea please kick me any reasons why this could be happening .

I have a 2003 honda accord le with an alpine 340 v12 4 channel powering my components , and a kenwood 979 hu which is all set by my installers and should be fine stock alt

well first of all if he installed it then he should be checking it out for you and not the other way around, i would go back and demand it be fixed. you did pay for the install right??

regardless of that, i would first look at the power connections to the amplifier, the +12V and ground. Inspect the insulation on the wires, make sure it is not touching any metal or points where it could possibly short circuit.I had my first amp installed at a shop, and while later upgrading the wiring, i found several points upon the wire leads that had bare wire exposed because the installer did not properly route the wiring and had scraped off insulation by forcing it through sharp edges, etc. also check the ground point and make sure that it is properly grounded to the vehicles chassis, and is not touching any painted aread, just bare metal. (most likely you are going to have to rip apart your vehicle to do this (which is why the installer should do it - there really is no substitue) also, check the speaker connections and speaker wire. again, check the insulation. make sure that the wires are connectes securely to the sub, and that they are not short circuiting themselves. i had a similar problem, i ended up shorting out the amplifier by the speaker wire connections (not secure).

again, i would go back to the installers and talk to them about it. they did what exactly i figure any lousy installer would do, blame it on the amp and just fork over for a new one. i think it is a substitute for a much simpler problem. go back and suggest some of the possibilities that i mentioned.
