alright so i remember seeing an "adding a second amp" thread, but i cant seem to find it. but basically, real quick, im looking to add an amp to my speakers in my doors. i have 4 channel amp tho, so i can still do this but only use 2 channels? and do i need to rewire everything???? or what??? somebody give me a real quick detailed description please?????

To run an amp on your door speakers it will require the following...

Power ran from your battery to the amp. A ground from the amp to your car. A remote 12v wire from your head unit to the REM of the amp. Speaker wires from your speakers to the amp. And RCA wires from your head unit to the amp.

You would need to run new wires for your speakers. It is impossible to use the existing ones, unless you run your own wire from the amp to the back of your radio and connect them on the existing stock wires.

so my friend just said something about i need an rca splitter??? any truth to that?

and wouldnt i need distro blocks or no?

obviously this has already been talked about so apologies on duplicating a common thread, but like i said, i couldnt find it

im just getting lost cuz i hve my hu used, with the rem, and the rcas, so it seems weird to me to do it again. and the same with the power, that has to go where my mono amp for my subs is so thats weird to. just confused but looking to do it

No you don't need an RCA splitter. Depending on how many channels you plan to amplify. You run 1 set for your front, and one set for your rear. Some 4 channel amps are capable of running all channels on 1 rca wire but you loose your fading capability.

Distro blocks are only used if you have more than one amp, or dual power inputs on a single amp. A single power wire and ground wire is ran to the distro block. Then from there it can be split to 2 amps.

Ahh so you already have subs hooked up with an amp.

Then you will indeed require 2 distro blocks to split you power and ground to the 2 amps.

And you HAVE to run a separate RCA wire. You can NOT use the same one as you are using for your subs.

The REM wire can just be ran from amp to amp or split and then connected to both.

well i plan on doing just the front speakers in my doors. and then this means id have 2 power wires connected to the positive part of my battery correct? and then 2 fuses under the hood?

Refer to my above post about distro blocks.

Sorry for the confusion.
