I made a bad choice. I bought a 1000w 4 channel amp for my aftermarket speakers...

1000w will blow my speakers correct?

Im going to return the old amp and buy a new one.

What is the maximum wattage I can go up to without blowing my speakers? Im looking for 2 ohm stable.

Thanks.

Trying to keep it cheap also.

EDIT: I currently have this amp installed, http://www.audiosavings.com/product_...a-8fa6b65de504

it has 100w RMS x4.. it does not run on 2 ohm's though. I have 2 ohm speakers. should i just have my speakers hooked up to this amp? or buy a replacement?

currently it is powering my sub only.

i bought infinity's but they are not getting enough power with the stock 240 watt amp, they sound terrible.

thanks everyone

Well, I am running infinity as well, and I have 4 of them running of an 800w. You gotta check the rms and max of the speakers before you determine if they will blow or not. 1000 might be too much, but if you run it at 2 ohms, that about 500w, or 125w a speaker. Might be a bit much, but it might work real well.

ok i have 2 infinity 5022i reference in the front. I'm not sure of rms 45 i think??

in the back i have 2 sony xplod's (replacing with infinity's) 55RMS.

and 3 tweeters which are powered by the front speakers crossovers.

cant i just turn the gain on the amp down??

also if you can help with this question:

when i installed the infinity reference 5022i's there was bass only, no mids or highs.. why is this? is it because they are not getting enough power or because of the crossovers?

you need to set the xovers correctly. What amp do you have now? also what hu settings are you running? Unless your amp has xover settings for each channel, then you will need to get separate amps. There are other work arounds, but its not pretty.

i have a 5 channel TIS 4ohm amp 700 watt 300RMS x1 (for sub) and 100 RMS x4 (speakers).

and the one i just posted above..

im not sure how the xovers are run.. it might be throught the factory amp. (hopefully).

the tis amp is powering the sub only at the moment.

the stock infinity amp is powering the speakers.

"im not sure how the xovers are run.. it might be throught the factory amp."

well if you dont know, how the hell do you expect us to help?

You realy need to do some more research on this.

What you want is the sub amp to be crossed at 80, so it only plays the lower freq's. The speakers should be crossed above that, or at full.

That amp is garbage, and so is the TIS POS.

If your tite on cash and want to make that shit work, then you will need to install and set it up very well. Trying to make bad equipment sound good is tough.

So i suggest finding out what you have things set at, wether it is running thru a factory amp or not? What you can afford for a decent amp.

and yes i would return that amp asap.
