Amp suggestions for 2x JL 12w6v2

So a few weeks ago I bought a JL 12w6v2 sub and a JL JX500 amp and took them to get installed. I live in Las Vegas, NV and on a typical summer day its over 105F. The amp overheats after around 3-4 songs. I mailed the amp back to the retailer yesterday and am now searching for a new amp that won't overheat.

I am planning on purchasing another JL 12w6v2, so I will need an amp that can drive 2x 12w6v2 and that won't overheat on me. I plan on spending $300-400 on this new amp. If I had the money I would go with the JL HD1200, but unfortunately I dont.

look into class d amps a/b amps are not as efficient therefore they go into thermal protect quick when pushed hard and even faster at low ohm loads.

Class D is what you should be running. JL amps shouldn't overheat. What ohm load were you running?

The better JL amp for your set up is the slash 500/1v2.

not enough power for them...he should give them 500 each not share 500

I think the install guy said its running at 2 Ohms. He recommended a Rubicon 1.1600d, do you guys think this amp will overheat though?

My buddy and I have had great luck with Memphis amplifiers! They never overheat even in the ridiculously hot and humid St. Louis summers.

The MC1.1100 is what you'd be looking for. Might be a little out of your price range brand new but you should be able to find one on ebay for a decent price!

yup Memphis is a great amp I have a mcd 1000 1100rms 1ohm stable. Very nice amp never gave me any problems. Got it used too.

the single 12w6 is currently in a sealed enclosure. Think I'm gonna do slot ported when i get the second one. any other suggestions for amps? The memphis is nice and your right, its out of my price range. the slash v2 1000.1 is also expensive =[. I called techronics and they suggested the Soundstream REF1.1000 which is $430. Would like to get the rubi, but not sure if it will overheat or not.
