Alright - just by looking at the pictures I'll allow that the BMA amps do appear to be built more heavily than the Profiles are.

But I'll have to reiterate that in my personal experience (and that of many, many others) the California-series Profile amps are pretty freggin dependable and do close to or at rated power.

Myself, I have owned a 440SX, a 400SX, a 600MSX, a CA400, a and CA600M. None of them ever gave me a moment's trouble and for what I paid for each of them they were well worth it. I can only personally speak of the current condition of the 440SX and the 400SX 'cause they were sold to a close friend but I bought both of them BNIB from Crutchfield the year they were new. Used 'em both for quite some time then sold 'em to my friend Greg. He's got both of them still in use in his wife's van and they still keep rockin' on without complaint and sound more than decent doing so.

At the end of the day I think $50 + shipping for factory-direct w/ a warranty for the output level that soul05's single IDQ needs is a pretty unbeatable deal.

That's only my $0.02 so we can disagree without being disagreeable, //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

oh no dont get me wrong... ive owned a profile CA600M and an 2 channel (forgot the model), those things are solid! handled an infinity vq very nicely and never got warm or went into protection mode. yup... those things are solid

lol no...white guy cannot understand...chinese that is
oh haha i thought you were tryin to say "i see white people" or something like that kan = see //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

$50 + ship does not sound bad at all. Whatever gives you rated 250-300w for the price. BTW IDQs are awesome. sweet sq. doesn't get too low, but makes up for it w/ its smoothness. Bass-strings are amazing.

based on performance/price i should get a msx600 over a bx605 then. would there be any reason to get the bx605 over the msx600?
I can't say, cause i've haven't had experience w/ the profile, but hey it's only $50 + ship.

hmm, i emailed steve lew at profile and he recommended that i dont get the 400msx and recommended that i get the ap1000m....should i jsut ignore him and get the 400msx?

ignore him. why push 500w to an IDQ? wtf. call him back and tele-slap him.

he probably thought you had a 500w rms audiobahn sub with an audiobahn sticker on all your windows w/ a dub license plate holder.

you dont' need to pay more for somethign you dont' need.... that's 3x more in cost.

Edit: 500w.

wait...i just noticed that the msx400 does not have a subsonic filter, my friend said that i should get one if i run the idq in a ported box...which is what im doing. should i still get that amp?

for a ported enclosure, you really need an ssf to keep the sub from bottoming out (basically it's "free-airing" itself and pushing itself past it's mechanical/thermal limits and will fail).

but i think you can get a line driver/eq for that if your amp doesn't have one..
