SPLC Fails
I'm a lil confused here...So yesterday I redid the power and ground by plopping connectors on the wire instead of just running bare wire to the amp terminals, and I redid the ground connection by using a nut on the end of the screw that holds the ground wires in, instead of just screwing them into the hole (just a more secure connection, that's all). I also ran the RCA interconnects along the side of the vehicle, as before they were temporarily ran down the center of the car.
In short, I fixed a ghetto install. The only thing I did to the amp settings is that I twisted the gain to see where it was set last time, and twisted it back to the original spot.
Now, my amp will go into protect/shut off (I'm not sure which, I haven't looked at the amp while it happens) when I turn it up. I can't get it as loud as it used to be before it shuts off. It will turn back on after 3-4 seconds and continue playing. It fixed every other issue I was having before, such as the ground loop and it used to sort of "miss" bass notes.
I don't really have time to poke around until next week, which is why I posted the thread. I thought through everything, and I still can't quite figure out what's making it shut of. Any ideas?
