amp shuts off

ok i bought this amp, its a jensen XA 3022Lx 300 watt ****er and i hooked it up and the power light came on for a second and then faded off. so i unhooked the sub and and turned the amp and shit on and it stayed on until i hooked the sub up....anyone kno what the **** is goin on?????? thanks

Sounds like your sub is either wired wrong or it the resistance is too low for the amp. (perhaps the sub is 1 or 2 ohms and the amp can only run at 4 ohms)

well the sub is 4 ohm and on the amp it says 'use 2,4 or 8 ohm speakers' and it says 'do not use 2ohm speaker in bridged (mono) mode only' i tryed hooking it up in my buddys car and it does it same shit so my amps prolly ****ed huh?
