amp shuts off and I ****

alright, in our work truck we got bored and hooked up some cheapo best buy subs and an amp. the amp is a kenwood 800watt mono amp hooked to 1 12" pioneer sub(unsure of model) the sub was going fine and then it just shut off. i have checked the gain and all fuses. the amp isnt lighting up(i dont remember if it did light up) so fuses are good connections are tight what else good this be? the ground is tight(ground right to floor) the wire is cheap walmart 10 gauge. im kind of stumped any ideas or suggestions are appreciated. is it going to protection mode? it did have to subs hooked up but when it stopped we wired just one up. I'm new to installing anything so be easy.

it did happened earlier in the day put i turned HU off and adjusted subwoofer adjustment through HU and it started working again?

you using 10 guage power wire? if so that is one of your problems. also what ohm is the sub?

Possibly too much electrical draw for the 10 gauge walmart wire. More plausible considering it works if you lower the sub volume.

im using 4 gauge power wire to amp and both amp fuses seem to look fine. i tried again this morning to fiddle with it and nothing. i have checked everything i can think of.

10ga walmart wire = about 12-14ga (like speaker wire). this is most likely the problem.

i worded the wiring wrong i have walmart 4 gauge wiring
