Amp Security/hiding

Right now my amps are just shoved under the driver and passenger seats, unmounted. This weekend I am running all new power wire, doing the big three, and some other crap to my car. While I'm doing all of this, I figure it's time to mount these amps somewhere.

I drive a 1999 Tahoe. The back seats lift up (the a$$ part) I was thinking of putting them on the ground there and closing the seat back over them, but I don't think this would allow for enough ventilation.

So my next idea was behind the back seats. I have the little pully thingie... the thing that you pull over your cargo area to hide stuff. I was thinking of making some kind of rack. Maybe something as simple as two rails that would be screwed to the floor with security type screws, then the amps screwed to the little rails. Then some kind of perforated metal cage over the whole thing on another rail run behind the amps with hinges. So the perf metal cage would be like a trap door that could be screwed shut.

The purpose of the little rails would be they would bring the amp of the floor, allowing for airflow under the amp. Mabe I could even install some little fans.

I know someone has to have thought of something like this. Any ideas? Is there a kit for something like this or do I have to make it?

Any other/better ideas are welcome. I'm just trying to think of something to do with the amps.

P. S. How do those guys set the amps INTO the floor? That looks so **** cool.

my yukon is just like your tahoe where the back seats can lift up.. i mounted my amp underneath the seat. its screw down to a piece of mdf thats under the carpet and then the seat is tied down with a chain and a padlock. i dont think its impossible to steal, but makes it harder for the thief.

^Yeah. That's the point. Nothing is impossible to steal. I just want it to take long enough for me to put on some shorts and grab my gun. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif Also, if it's hard most crackheads or bad kids just won't F with it. I like my idea about the little cage, though. But things that work in my head don't always work in practice...

The underseat thing is great for hiding. Plus it's easier. But I'm just worried about heat. Do you find that to be a problem? Both my amps are Kicker ZX's. Neither gets extremely hot. But They are pretty well ventilated where they are.
