Amp Repair People - Amp turns on, not in protect, no sound.

I have a crunch pzi 2250 a guy gave me for putting a sub in a box, kind of beat up but the board looks good in it, no burnt stuff, all the soldering looks good, etc but it looks as if it led a rough life anyway. Decent little amp, supposed to do about 900w into 4 ohm bridged or 450x2. Anyway, it turns on but has no output, and isnt in protect. What causes this? Blown outputs on the amp? I had another amp do the same thing and i remember ampjunkie told me i think the output transistors were blown? I know its not worth being repaired i was just wondering if its something i could do to figure out what it is, maybe a simple problem.
