amp "swap"

@dejesu

the SSL Ev4 2000-
2x30a fuses, 4ch A/B amp. Say bridged at 4ohms = roughly 50% efficiency on a good day.

60a x 14.4v = 864 total watts of fuse handling
864w x .50 = 432 available watts / 2 bridged channels = 216 watts /ch

Alpine MRP-M1000-
100a fuse, 1ch class D amp at 2 ohms, say roughly 75% efficiency
100a x14.4v = 1440 available wattage of fuse handling
1440w x .75 = 1080 available watts

This is just a general idea of what your choices are so far. I would say the SSL is wayy overrated, but would drive some highs pretty good in 4 ch mode, IMO

For the time being can I use te alpine MRP-M500 amp to power my RF P312D4's?
you really should hack out a box made of 3/4 MDF and toss in a 4" PVC port and run just one of those 12's on the Alpine 500 at 2ohms. You might impress yourself. If you are good with wood you can do much better with a slot port...either way can be done cheap enough...just research the sub and see what they like in a single box.

i'm supposed to be getting a SSL Ev4 2000 tomorrow to power two 12" rockford fosgate P3's (older model, not sure about the specifics though)... anyway i'm told by a lot of people that i should avoid the SSL Ev4 2000. What is an amp that i could get for around 200 used that can power these subs instead of having to use the dreadful SSL?
for 200? Memphis PR1.1000 1000w amp mono block | eBay keep an eye on this one
