You do not need the cap..waste of your money..a small battery will be just fine/or a second battery if you need more power, yet,i dont really think youll need it..One good battery up front, and the big three if needed for the power youll be running should be more than enough..but 12 ga min is what I use for sub woofers, up to 10,and 8 ga even, but 12 ga will be just fine for those subsi was thinking i can run the SSL for now so i have something to listen to, i've been staring at that sub box for the past week. and while i'm using that for the time being, i can search for a better amp. he's also selling me a capacitor.. is it even necessary? and what gauge wiring is recommended to run the subs?
I would get the best/most your money can buy..but yes 1k amp up to 1500 will be just fine,or even 2k..you will only be getting approx 70-80% efficiency of any amplifier at best, and thats with one he ll of an electrical system..you could get more dependentand just to be clear, i need at least a 1,000 watt amp right?

Thats a decission you need to make on your own..Im just recommending a good amp for your subs verses what you have now, and for the budget given, for your moneyhe was gonna sell me the amp, capacitor and wiring, but...
1) i have 8 gauge wiring from my last setup still in my car.
2) the capacitor apparently isn't necessary.
3) the amp he was gonna sell me *****
4) he was gonna sell me all that for $120
should i just tell him forget it? since all i need is the amp?
would you recommend mono or 2-channel amp?Thats a decission you need to make on your own..Im just recommending a good amp for your subs verses what you have now, and for the budget given, for your money
Id recommend a mono Class d amp if buying newer amps..old school of course 2ch/ a/b amps..Class d amps are to be more sufficient, and generally run alot cooler than bridging a 2 ch amplifier..yet, Id run a 2ch, and bridge if I were considering using that amp on my mids and highs later, and possibly upgrading to a much better/more powerful amp,so that I could utilize it in both methods/more of an optionwould you recommend mono or 2-channel amp?

I think I'm just gonna use the wiring he's going to give me. If it worked for him, I dont see why it wouldn't work for meand, that 8awg will not do. you need at least 4 up to 1k. 2 in the 800-1500 range. you also need to look at the amp being 1ohm rated, or 2x2ohm rated.
Dual 4's means you can wire them together down to a 1 ohm load. If you get a amp that does at least 1k rms at 1ohm, you will be good. You should look into hifonics, american bass HD series amps, american bass phanton series amps, mb quart, db drive and a few others in that price range. I can tell you now though, IMHO American Bass makes some of the best amps around. People I know who rock other brands subs, usually run AB amps or would take an AB amp in a heartbeat. You can get a mono channel amp to run the 1 ohm load off ofjust checked, they're 4 ohms. 2 Rockford Fosgate P312D4's
Well I was just gonna use the SSL while I look for a different amp, which means I'll probably use it for about a month or so. I think the subs will be fine if I use the SSL for such a short time, no?Wiring isn't gonna cut it man. You need adequate electrical so you don't burn up what you do already have. It takes power to make power and when you try to just get by you risk screwing up all of your equipment. If it don't magic smoke it will over time I promise. Cap, goes. SSL, blows. I would much rather use that Alpine in your sig over that SSL (plus it CAN run fairly well on that 8 Ga if in fact that is DECENT 8 Ga and not 75% jacket/25% "wire").
