amp "swap"

And since you're still sort of new to the whole sub wiring and all I would also say you need to find a DMM (digital multi-meter) and set it to ohms and check each coil (+ and -) on each side of each sub to check that they're all good and working.
^^This

I'm going to trade my MRP-M500 amp + $60 for the MRP-M1000. Good deal?
Not on both of the RF subs..the Alpines are 2 ohm amps. Yeah, it is a hella deal and would be great, now all you have to do is ditch the D4 subs and get some decent D2's or S4's....much better plan and will be a lot more efficient on your electrical

very good point. for some reason I thought this amp did 1 ohm. my bad for sure. but its worth the trade to sell off for more $/trade for better equipment or run new subs off of.

Exactly...i laugh every day when someone comes here wanting to find an amp for some subs they just bought..i'm like wtf? Subs are they easy part..everbody's got subs to choose from for any budget...but the Amp is the most important part in sq, spl and electrical efficiency....Find the power you can use and THEN grab some subs to fit the power and space available

I think I'm just gonna use the wiring he's going to give me. If it worked for him, I dont see why it wouldn't work for me
The 8 ga wire worked for him because the amp doesn't make it's advertised power. Therefore, higher gauge wire was not necessary for it to work at it's max potential. 8 ga wire should not be used for anything over 5-600 watts. Your wire could get hot enough to melt... if the fuse doesn't pop... You need to find out how many ampere's your amplifier will draw, at whatever ohm load you will be running, and then make sure your power cable is sufficient at whatever length it will be. This is extremely important, do not overlook it.

if your on a budget sell your alpine get a ap amp or the mb quart onyx they both put out more then enough power that you need ditch the 8 gauge dosent matter if it worked for the other guy he was doing it wrong

I would recommend the APSM1500... works great for me. But, he needs 1000 watts at 1 or 4 ohms. He would have to tune it down with a dmm, or run it at 4 ohms and live with 5-600 watts.
