I just checked my cars owners manual and it says the alternator is 80 amps. Does that mean when i buy an amp wiring kit i only need one with a power cable with a fuse rated 80 amps? Also for the Nine.1 it says the max draw is 130 amps. Does that mean my alt wont be able to power it?

you can wire it with 1/0 if you want...its all about fusing properly, and hooking everything up the way it's supposed to. the alt will only put out 80 amps, so if you outdraw that there will be dimming etc. if you run a stiffening cap it will help you with the dimming, but just make sure everything is fused the way its supposed to be. good luck

No you do not need to fuse at 80A, you need to fuse somewhere blow the wire sizes maximum handling. And no you do not need an alternator capable of supplying 130A because that amplifier will hardly ever draw 130A from your electrical system.

So what size fuse would you recommend for a nine.1 hooked up to a 80 amp alternator? I heard knukonceptz has some good stuff. Would this work?http://www.knukonceptz.com/productDetail.cfm?prodID=KOL-AK4 If I got that could I upgrade the fuse to a higher rated one if its needed?

4 ga will cover you if it's a relatively short run (

The 80A fuse supplied w/the kit will probably work unless you plan to play full volume test tones for long periods of time. A 1200w amp isn't going to draw more than ~40A rms if you're listening to music, and that would be full volume.
